One Week+ to go until the JWST launch

JWST (James Webb Space Telescope)

This was to be the one week update, but trouble with a cable between the rocket and the telescope has caused a least a two day delay for the launch. It is now scheduled for Friday, December 24, 2021 at 6:20 AM CST. The JWST has been placed on the rocket which was when the problem was discovered. I had earlier said the JWST was going to be Santa’s gift to us, now it seems that will be more true than I thought. NASA will brief us with more information about the communication problem between the Ariane 5 rocket and the telescope on this coming Friday, December 17.
For those wanting more detail on the launch and deployment of JWST, this video, gives a nice description and time-line including where the telescope is in its travels to the L2 point which is four times farther than the moon.
